Valley Cycle Center's Tire & Wheel Program

Tire & Wheel Protection is a service plan that helps cover repair or replacement of tires and wheels damaged by road hazards or trail debris (potholes, rocks, curbs, nails, etc.) during normal use.

Common Tire & Wheel Protection Questions

  1. Tire repair or replacement due to covered road/trail hazards
  2. Wheel repair or replacement if bent, cracked, or otherwise damaged
  3. Some plans include mounting and balancing
  4. Coverage often applies to factory-installed and aftermarket wheels/tires

Typically excluded items include:

  1. Normal wear & tear (tread wear, aging)
  2. Cosmetic damage that doesn’t affect performance
  3. Damage from racing, reckless use, off-limits terrain per manufacturer
  4. Theft (unless plan specifically includes it)
  5. Damage from collision with another vehicle (depends on plan)

Coverage terms vary but are usually offered in:

  1. Time-based (e.g., 12, 24, 36 months)
  2. Mileage-based (e.g., up to 12,000 miles)
  3. A set number of claim occurrences

This depends on the plan:

  1. Some allow unlimited claims
  2. Others limit to a certain number of tire/wheel replacements
  3. Some plans have per-item limits (e.g., 4 tires over term)

Some plans have a deductible per incident; others do not. Always check the terms.

Standard auto/vehicle insurance may not cover tire/wheel damage from road hazards. Even if your policy includes it, coverage might be limited or subject to high deductibles.

  1. Some plans require repairs at authorized dealers
  2. Others allow reimbursement if you go to your preferred shop
  3. Always check the network & reimbursement process

Yes — most dealers let you roll the cost of TWP into your financing or pay upfront.

  1. Tire & Wheel Protection generally covers both tires and wheels
  2. Some road hazard-only plans cover tires but not wheels
  3. Always compare covered perils and terms

Usually yes, as long as:

  1. They meet safety standards
  2. They were installed prior to coverage
  3. The provider accepts them
  4. Check plan terms for size/price limits.
